KnitWits |
Quentin Webb, a NYC designer, walked into an FAO Schwarz 'open call' for new toy designs with some socks and came out with a deal. His concept: Knitwits, characters made from the mismatched and the unclaimed.
Webb also created a whole back-story to the KnitWits. There are several families—the Ditterwits, the Flipwits, the Splitwits, and the Whippitywits—each of which comes with traits and quirks. The Whippitywits, as everyone knows, are calm and reliable, but they can resist change and be just a bit lazy.
The company that produces them, LittleMissMatched, has done their part, creating a Witalator, which you can use to name your own particular bundle of sock love.
They're so funny and charming-looking that the two-year-old who was supposed to get hers still has not. Sorry, Isabelle, you'll have to pry Darneeopalius Ditterwit from our cold, dead hands. Tell your mom to take you to FAO Schwarz, which has them exclusively ($25).
