A Taste of Austria
New York's top Austrian chefs under one roof

At "A Taste of Austria," The Austrian Tourist Office, the Austrian Trade Commission and the Austrian Wine Marketing Board will take guests on an epicurean journey to Austria. New York's most celebrated Austrian chefs will match some of their favorite dishes, such as Braised Paprika Chicken with Spaetzle or "Kaiserschmarrn," with excellent Austrian vintages at this tasting event in Manhattan's fashionable neighborhood Nolita.

Meet the chefs:
• Kurt Gutenbrunner, award-winning chef and co-owner of New York City's Wallsé, Café Sabarsky, and Blaue Gans, has earned abundant praise for his modern interpretation of Austrian cuisine and his seamless integration of food and art.

• Chefs Wolfgang Ban and Eduard Frauneder from Seasonal and Edi & the Wolf combine traditional techniques and contemporary innovations to update some of their favorite childhood dishes.

• Erwin Schrottner and Andrew Chase, former veterans of the Mark Hotel and the Monkey Bar, are known for their decidedly upscale take on well-crafted Austrian comfort food at Café Katja.

• Heidi Riegler focuses on the sweet side of Austria and will delight you with cookies baked fresh at her Vienna Cookie Company.

Join us on October 19th for a tasting extravaganza that highlights the many varied flavors of typical Austrian cuisine and features a selection of around 40 of the best Austrian wines.

Part of the proceeds of this event will go to City Harvest.
