ART Don't assume things are much rosier in a wee world, particularly when you're in a snow globe or a photograph (as in the image above) composed by the hugely talented husband-and-wife artist team of Walter Martin and Paloma Muñoz.
BOOK The Little Giant of Aberdeen, by Tiffany Baker, is the story of Truly Plaice, whom we watch grow from a "jam-smeared and epically proportioned" baby into the ample-hearted little giant of the title.
OBJECTS Some of you will recall the Think Big store from the '80s that featured things like oversized pencils and crayons. It's long gone, but some of their old favorites are now for sale by Great Big Stuff, along with newer items: iPod earphones at a 500:1 scale.
VIDEOAmong the artistic experiments created by Daniel Greenfeld: "Mini-disasters"—filmed recreations of famous transportation disasters. It's part of the "You're Doing It Wrong: Creative Misuse of Technology" program at the 92nd St. Y in Tribeca, 200 Hudson [Canal/Vestry] on February 11th.
SCULPTUREIn his UWS studio, Charles LeDray creates a world in miniature—his painstakingly hand-wrought porcelain vessels, books, buttons, or articles of clothing have a psychological resonance all out of proportion to their size—precisely the point.
BURGER It may not be as tall as the one in the photo, but as far as we know, the sumo burger at Big Nick's, 2175 Bway [76th/77th] 212.362.9238, is the biggest burger in town—if it's not, at over one pound of Angus beef, it's still big enough to block up any and all functional arteries.
HOBBY About a half-hour north of Manhattan in New City, The Historical Society of Rockland County, 845.634.9629, is hosting the 33rd Annual Miniature and Dollhouse Show through March 1st.
CUPCAKES While we can't say that Crumbs is among our favorite bakeries in the city, their mini-cupcakes can scratch an itch. A dozen is $18.
SKYSCRAPERS A visit to The Skyscraper Museum, 39 Battery Pl. 212.968.1961, is always rewarding, and so is a visit to their website. You can find, among other things, their Supertall Survey and a timeline of the tallest buildings from the World Building (1890) to the Burj Dubai, nearing completion.
