Bolon Flooring |
WHAT IT IS: Bolon is Swedish woven vinyl flooring resembling sisal. It was introduced in the U.S. about two years ago.
WHY YOU'D WANT IT: You can cut it in any direction and it won't fray, it's easy to clean, and non-slip. MUG thinks the best application for city dwellers is this: you live in a brownstone with hideous 70s floor tiling in your kitchen and bathroom — Bolon flooring is a quick, inexpensive, and surprisingly attractive fix.
WHERE TO FIND IT: It's available at many of the city's flooring stores, including Aronson's 135 W. 17th [6th/7th] 212.243.4993.
WHAT IT COSTS: A 6' 6" x 4' piece costs about $140 and takes two weeks to get shipped to the store.
