Glory Days — NY Baseball 1947-1957 is the companion book to the Museum of the City of NY's exhibition (now closed) about the game and the city. Over 350 images, including color photos from private archives. Pub date: May 8.

The New Yorkers is an Upper West Side comedy of manners (!) by Cathleen Schine, author of The Love Letter, about a single block, the residents, and their dogs. Pub date: May 1.

From Taschen, New York Style is a volume of old New York as well as gorgeous contemporary interiors. We're not sure, frankly, why this should be such an irresistible little book, but we can't stop thumbing through it.

With the imminent demise of The Sopranos, Mafiaphiles may end up jonesing for a hit. The Case Against Lucky Luciano covers Lucky Lu, his thriving prostitution ring during the Great Depression, and the downfall of both. Pub date: May 28.

1001 Greatest Things Ever Said About New York is full of great characters and observations. Mayor Jimmy Walker: "I'd rather be a lamppost in New York than the mayor of Chicago." Brendan Behan: "New York is my Lourdes, where I go for spiritual refreshment…a place where you're least likely to be bitten by a wild goat."

New York Waters — Profiles From the Edge focuses on those who live or work along the city's shores, rivers, kills, and harbors.
