Where: Mt. Taurus
What: A three-hour walk, of moderate difficulty, with a couple of more challenging patches.
How to Get There: Take MetroNorth to Cold Spring. Here are some additional instructions to get to the trailhead, but you should have a map with you.
Reward: Wonderful ruins of the old Cornish estate. On the summit, heartstoppingly beautiful views of the Hudson Valley.
Where: Dia:Beacon/Benmarl
What: Contemporary art, America's oldest winery.
How to Get There: Accessible by train, but you'll need a car if you want to hit nearby Benmarl. Directions here for Dia:Beacon, here for Benmarl.
Reward: You get to see Dia's collection of art from the 1960s to the present in its snazzy new(ish) second home. At Benmarl, wine tasting, Sunday concerts, and gorgeous views.
