Every Person in New York

An amusement park of food & drink, The Great GoogaMooga looks set to rock Prospect Park in a big way. Mark your calendar for May 19th and 20th for all kinds of cool food purveyors, wine, beer, and musical performances. Free, but you need to register, starting this Thursday.

Spotted in Chinatown: the first champagne mangoes of the season.

Can't beat this story for St. Patrick's Day: "Irish woman will celebrate 107th birthday in New York on St. Patrick's Day." Mae Collins' secret? "Shot of rye, four o'clock in the afternoon."

Rye is mother's milk to some, though not for the Times, which as everyone knows, is thoroughly gin-besotted. Don't be surprised if the ink-stained, juniper-gorged wretches turn up at the Astor Center class The Cocktails that made Gin Famous, Friday, May 23rd, 6:30-8:30pm, $79.

Here's the mix: chef Scott Conant, his restaurant Scarpetta, performances by Broadway talent like Tituss Burgess, seven passed courses (and spirits), proceeds going to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. It takes place Monday, March 26, 7pm, tickets are $250 ($150 is tax deductible).

Folklorist Hanna Griff-Sleven and the Museum at Eldridge Street's Deputy Director, Amy Stein-Milford, lead a Passover Nosh & Stroll covering the history and foods of the LES on March 25th, 11-4. $15, RSVP.

The 5th Annual Choice Eats tasting event, with vittles from restaurants featured in Robert Sietsema's columns, takes place tonight, 6:30-9:30pm, at the 69th Armory, $50.

Food lovers should really make a point of seeing Jiro Dreams of Sushi, the movie about 85-year-old Jiro Ono, who has dedicated his life to becoming the world's greatest sushi master—in a 10-seat spot in a Tokyo subway station. The restaurant has three Michelin stars and the movie demonstrates how food prep can, in the right hands,
become an art.

Not sure we'd call these food rings 'art' but they're fun.
