Duos
Every Person in New York
Poll: Brokered GOP Convention?

Tonight, 7pm, at the Rubin Museum, the chamber duo of pianist/raga composer Richard Bennett and sitarist Indro Roy-Chowdhury. Tickets are $20. Musical transportation guaranteed.

In September, Judy Collins released an album of duets with singers including Jackson Browne, Willie Nelson and Don McLean. It's her musical relationship with Ari Hest (whom we first wrote about in 2003) that gave the album its title song, Strangers Again, and paved the way for a new album of duets between Collins and Hest. That one is called Silver Skies Blue and you can hear some of it when the two musicians perform at City Winery this Friday. The album will be released in June.

Atlanta's rootsy rockers Larkin Poe, Rebecca Lovell and Megan Lovell (sisters and descendants of Edgar Allen Poe) perform on April 19 at Mercury Lounge—tickets go on sale at noon on Friday. Listen to their new single Trouble in Mind here.

Deborah Karpel and Ismail Butera perform songs from immigrant Jewish communities. She sings, he plays the accordion and the old world is reliably evoked. Museum at Eldridge Street, Wednesday, March 30, 7pm, $25

Jason Polan started Every Person in New York in March of 2008. He plans on working on the project until it is finished. Look for more at Jason's site and his book Every Person in New York.
