Porchetta and Porsena's Sara Jenkins cooks a four-course meal with wine pairings at Eataly on Thursday, July 25, 7pm, $125 all inclusive.

The Museum of Food and Drink is a museum-to-be in NYC about "the culture, history, science, production, and commerce of food and drink." Great idea. Even though a building is still far in the future, they're kickstarting their first exhibit.

Another project you should know about… The Slow Food group has created the Ark of Taste, a catalogue of rare regional foods in danger of extinction. Local Harvest has listings of farmers who grow or make these foods. [Image of Moon & Stars Watermelon: Black Eiffel]

Beer more your thing? Greenpoint's Tørst, 615 Manhattan [Nassau/Driggs] 718.389.6034, instantly became one of the city's best places to drink beer when it opened in March. On July 16, they're adding Luksus to the same site: 26 seats, five-course tasting menus with beer, chef Daniel Burns.

Ditch Plains, 100 W. 82 [Col/Amst] 212.362.4815, is fixing a New England crab boil on July 18 and again on August 15. Maryland blue crab will come with corn on the cob and jalapeno hushpuppies. $40

No doubt it's on your calendar already, but July 22 is Japanese eel day. They'll be celebrating at Mitsuwa in Edgewater.
