Hot and Cold

Sierra Nevada, the California brewery, has introduced a new beer to its Harvest line, the Southern Hemisphere Fresh Hop Ale. They use hops from New Zealand for this one, and we like it quite a lot—there's plenty of flavor, but it's thoroughly thirst-quenching.


At Union Square's Bikram Yoga, new students get to take 7 (consecutive) days of classes for $20. BYO IV drip.


Pretty geeky, but possibly useful: Hammacher Schlemmer has an 'insulated evaporative cooling cap' ($24.95) that they say will keep your head 30 degrees cooler than the outside air temp.


Mixing some heat into ice cream isn't a new idea, but we find it a welcome change from overly sweet concoctions. At all three Rosa Mexicano locations starting June 25th (through July 20th), they're having their annual Ice Cream and Sorbet Festival. Look for the tascalate, which combines cacao, achiote chile, and corn.


Check out the 70-foot water slide that will be set up in Central Park's bandshell area tomorrow, noon-4pm. Free sliding, so bring your bathing suit.
