It's money, rather than goods, that's needed now. Here are some of the relief organizations and what they're doing in South Asia.
AMERICAN JEWISH WORLD SERVICE Direct material relief to the poorest families in affected areas, including food, cooking supplies, and blankets. Donation Page
ACTION AGAINST HUNGER Immediate relief from hunger and disease in Sri Lanka and Indonesia is their first priority, followed by restoring the country's self-sustainable sources of food and water. They're also pursuing exploratory missions throughout the region. Donation Page
AMERICARES They've been focusing on airlifting medical supplies and water purification treatments. Donation Page
ARCHITECTURE FOR HUMANITY Every $10,000 raised will be used to build a half-dozen new homes in areas affected by the tsunami. Donation Page
BAKORNAS Donations can be made for Aceh and Northern Sumatra through this fund via the Indonesian Embassy. Donation Page
BAPS CARE Their volunteers have been (among other things) serving hot meals to 4,000 people twice a day in southern India, as well as distributing emergency materials. Donation Page
CARE Aid is going to India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, including food water, shelter materials, and basic medical supplies. Donation Page
DIRECT RELIEF Medical supplies, including six pallets of erythromycin, have arrived or en route to affected areas, thanks to this organization. Donation Page
DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS DWB says they have received enough donations for the emergency response in South Asia, but you can contribute to their general relief fund. Donation Page

MERCY CORPS Shelter, water purification, sanitation and delivery of essential items in Aceh and elsewhere provided by their humanitarian workers on the ground there. Donation Page
OXFAM Providing food, water, materials, and temporary latrines are some of the top priorities of this organization, working in the hardest hit areas. Donation Page
PRIME MINISTER'S NATIONAL RELIEF FUND India has not asked for external assistance at this point. It has asked for help from Indian community members, which can be made through this fund. Donation Page
RED CROSS Water sanitation services, family linking and reunification, and relief supply distribution are the first priorities of the American Red Cross, working with its international chapters. Donation Page
ROYAL THAI EMBASSY'S DONATION ACCOUNT Donate money for relief of Thai victims and their families via this embassy account. Donation Page
SARVODAYA Sri Lanka's largest development charity has pledged to care for all orphaned children aged 11 and below, provide grief counseling, and supplies. Donation Page
SAVE THE CHILDREN Their focus for now is helping children and their families in Indonesia, and coastal areas of Sri Lanka and India. Donation Page
SRI LANKA DISASTER RELIEF FUND The Sri Lankan embassy has info on how to send cash, a check, or wire money as well as how to send clothing, food, or medical supplies.
UNHCR The UN's Refugee Agency has 400 tons of relief supplies on their way for Indonesia and has set up operations in Sumatra and Sri Lanka. Donation Page
UNICEF The $81 million is seeking from donors is to be applied to the estimated 1.5 million affected children: drugs and immunization, water, sanitation, care for traumatized children, protection for orphans, and school rehabilitation. Donation Page
