How to Help Somalia
Flickr Pool Picks

Drought in Somalia, compounded by the internecine conflict, has created famine and suffering beyond imagining. Relief efforts are severely constrained by the unrest, but money is still desperately needed—$1.6 billion, according to U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

It's the worst drought to hit the region in 60 years—over 11 million in the Horn of Africa need food assistance, including two million children who are facing starvation. Here are some organizations where you can donate:

American Refugee Committee

Doctors Without Borders

CARE

International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies

International Rescue Committee

Mercy Corps

Save the Children

Unicef

World Food Programme

World Vision
