PLAY
All we need to know is that it's a play by Christopher Durang and that it's called "Miss Witherspoon," which already makes us laugh. According to the theatre, it's about a woman named Veronica who, in life, "turned her back on religion — so why is she spending eternity in the netherworld with a Hindu spirit guide who calls her Miss Witherspoon? And why is she continually being sent back to earth to live lives she adamantly refuses to lead? Will she open herself up to enlightenment and learn her place in the world?" Find out when it begins previews November 11th at , 416 W. 42nd [9th/10th] 212.279.4200.
ShameSpiral is one of several new rotating mini-features we're adding to our Radar section. Normally, this will be a quick chronicle of misdeeds, bad behavior, and appalling comments from locals. But at the moment, it's hard to overlook the miasma of contempt emanating from the Bush family. Barbara Bush, touring the Houston Astrodome, said of the people forced out of New Orleans, "What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them."

For those of you asking about the wedding proposal that ran in MUG before our vacation, Stephanie did indeed say "yes."
