Making It

Artist owned and run One Sixty Glass, 160 Berry [N. 5th] Bklyn 718.486.9620, teaches glassblowing (six students per class), rents studio time, and sells glassware. A six-week session costs $550, which includes all materials.

Studio 174, 174 N. 11th [Driggs/Bedford] Bklyn 718.218.7735, is the workspace of jewelry designers Caroline Glemann and Michael Fitzgerald, where they also teach jewelry making. The next session starts June 19th, runs for six Saturday morning sessions, and costs $360 (you'll need to buy a few simple tools, too).

The Yarn Tree, 347 Bedford [S. 3rd/S/4th] Bklyn 718.384.8030, offers, at various times, classes in knitting, crocheting, felting, and weaving, as well as one-day workshops. Classes run from $175-$330 (exclusive of materials), six people max, generally for 10 weeks.
We won't be mourning along with the rest of the country today. The hagiolatry in the air right now is, for some of us, repellent. Ronald Reagan couldn't bring himself to utter the word AIDS for six years of his presidency, much less do a damn thing about it. Today we choose to remember our loved ones lost to the disease.
