Manhattan v. Brooklyn

When we can spend time debating pleasant trifles such as What's the Better Borough: Brooklyn or Manhattan?, it strikes us that the city is back in high spirits.

The Municipal Arts Society is hosting this debate on October 7th, starting at 5:30pm. It takes place in the neutral zone of the East River, on the Peking Boat, docked at Pier 16 at the Seaport. The moderator will be New Yorker contributor Andy Borowitz (and author of Who Moved My Soap? The CEO's Guide to Surviving in Prison). Partisan guests will include Kurt Andersen, Mario Batali, Steve Hindy (president of the Brooklyn Brewery) and David Rodriguez (Executive Director of the Apollo Theater Foundation).

At 5:30, Brooklyn beer and cosmos: choose your weapon. The program goes from 6:30-8, then there's an after-party at Superfine, 126 Front [Jay/Pearl]. t's $45 ($35 for MAS members). For more info, call 212.935.3960 or go to www.mas.org. May the best borough win.
