The Math Museum Project presents
The Weekend at the Math Midway

Saturday and Sunday, August 29th and 30th, 10 am to 5 pm
Urban Academy in the Julia Richman Education Complex
317 E. 67th Street between 1st and 2nd Ave.

Where can your family take a circular ride on square wheels?
How do you get children excited about the world of numbers?
What rekindles a grownup's sense of wonder?

If you missed its debut at the World Science Festival in June, this weekend is your chance to visit the Math Midway, America's premiere hands-on, interactive exhibition of the wonders of mathematics! Twenty playful, carnival-themed exhibits will delight you, including: Pedal on the Petals, where you can take a smooth ride on square wheels; the Ring of Fire, where lasers slice familiar shapes in unexpected ways; and Pirate X and Lady Y, where saving the treasure means keeping your balance.

As described in the New York Times City Room, the Math Midway turns "the common conception of mathematics into a circus of square-wheeled tricycles, giant blocks, and simulated roller coasters… combining the mobility of a state-fair swath of carny booths with the slick execution of an educational theme park."

The exhibition won't be back open to the public in New York until 2010, so don't miss your chance this Saturday or Sunday to visit the Math Midway – it's an infinite amount of fun!
