Men's Shaving

Barbershop Shaves
Even though "Sweeney Todd" has closed, there are barbers in town, strop at the ready, ready to sharpen their blades and give you a seriously close shave. The Paul Molé shop on the Upper East Side has been at it for 90 years. The Art of Shaving will give you a regular shave for $25 or a "royal" one for $45. And over at the Plaza, there's Pepe Baldo. Mr. Baldo, truly an old hand at this game, performed his first shave back in Italy many years ago and says, "I worked for months before I could find someone crazy enough to let me do it. I shaved the mailman, and he was drunk."

New Gillette M3 Power
In the next month or so, look for the new M3 Power razor as Gillette ups the ante (and the price) of their bestselling MACH3. This one gets battery power to add a pulse to the razor, which is supposed to lift the hairs for a closer shave.

Coincidentally, certainement, Daily Candy writes about the restaurant Mas today, which MUG wrote about on Friday. But they don't get their facts quite right. A mas isn't French for farm. That would be ferme. It's Provençal dialect for house or farmhouse. And contrary to what DC tells you, the s in Mas is pronounced.
