Mozzarella

Big news from the mozzarella world, a scoop from sunny Rome for you this gray Friday morning.

Obikà, the hit mozzarella-worshipping eatery, will open a small location the first week of December in the plaza of the IBM Building, 590 Mad [56th/57th].

Obikà became a hit in the Eternal City when it opened in 2004, conceived as a kind of sushi bar that plied its trade with buffalo instead of fish. You can expect the same mozzarella sampler and other small plates starring the Italian cheese.

In the meantime, New York has its share of fine m-bombs:
Joe's Dairy, 156 Sullivan [Houston/Prince] 212.677.8780, DiPalo, 200 Grand [Mott] 212.226.1033, and American-made buffalo mozzarella from Woodstock Water Buffalo.

it arrived on a cold winter night.
