MUGWeekend

LORNA SIMPSON SPEAKS
The prodigiously talented Lorna Simpson talks about her art, which includes photography and film, tonight at the ArtTalks series of the American Federation of Arts, 41 E. 65th [Park/Mad] 212.988.7700, ext. 64. Tickets are $15 and you need to reserve. It starts at 6:30pm. A reception follows.

LATIFAH SINGS
Oh, man, does she sing. On her new CD, the "Dana Owens Album," (her pre-queen name), Latifah sings "Lush Life," "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy," and "California Dreamin'." Our favorite track, though, is "Hard Times," which QL resurrects from the August Darnell group Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band, whose first album was one of the best things to come out of the 70s.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE JEWISH
But, it couldn't hurt. The hit comedy from L.A., Jewtopia, is playing now at the Westside Arts, 407 W. 43rd [9th] 212.239.6200. If you use the code JT24TCX, tickets are only $34, for a limited time only.

AND FOR YOU, $50 OFF THAT SUIT
Now through 10/5, get an additional $50 off the already great deals on men's designer suits at Loftworks, 100 Lafayette [Walker/White] 212.343.8088. Say "suit sale" at the register.

GREENS, GREENS, NOTHING BUT GREENS
Well, actually, in spite of that Sondheim lyric, you'll find a whole fabulous range of colors in the gardens at Wave Hill, one of our absolute-most-favorite places in the five boroughs. And this time of year, when the weather is gentle, it's especially beguiling.
