New Destiny Housing
the skint

For the last two decades New Destiny Housing has been doing work that no other nonprofit is doing in the city.

New Destiny builds, manages and otherwise sources low-income housing for victims of domestic violence. People in domestic abuse situations normally receive emergency shelter for six months, but 90% leave the shelter after that time without a safe place to live (the wait list for public housing has over 150,000 families on it). In fact, domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness for women and children. The organization helps break the cycle of violence by ensuring that families have a longterm housing solution.

To that end, New Destiny has provided homes to nearly 1,000 people in places they have built and they assist 2,000 victims each year in getting housing. They also help over 40,000 people each year with their online resource center.

If you're so inclined, you can support their important work with a donation.
