Old Village Hall, 170 E. 2nd [A/B] 212.677.7307, is a small shop with outsized talent and taste.
Scott Hill, a former Ralph Lauren window creator, transforms vintage furniture with hand-screened fabrics, creates great throw pillows (including balsam pillows that bring a warm, Christmasy scent to your couch), and carries cranny-enhancing objects that he prices fairly. He makes early Americana, a recurring motif, blend beautifully with contemporary styles.
Pillows range from $10-$125, the sailboat bookends pictured are $120, the antique ceramic milk bottles are $100, the chain wallet is $85, furniture starts at $300 and tops out at $2500 or so.
