Pierre Dulaine Dance Club

Can that boy foxtrot? How about rumba? Cha-cha or samba? There aren't many clubs in New York where you can dip and twirl surrounded by other dippers and twirlers. One place is the Pierre Dulaine Dance Club, 25 W. 31st [5th/Bway] 212.244.8400.

The charming Mr. Dulaine, who has performed on Broadway ("Grand Hotel") and who founded the American Ballroom Theater Company, teaches group classes ($15) and offers private lesson as well. There are also dance parties with food, wine, and plenty of rug cutting: tonight from 8-11pm ($12) and this Sunday from 4-7pm ($15).
We'd said all we had to say about the Shops at Columbus Circle until a reader challenged us along these lines: if we're so smart, what shops should have gone in there? Well, here are a few selections, and then a moratorium on that retail mallsoleum.
