Room & Board

Room & Board, the Minneapolis-based furniture company, has just opened their first store in the city at 105 Wooster [Prince/Spring] 212.334.4343 — good news if you're in the market for a new sofa, table, or other furniture that's designed with clean lines, made well, and bargain priced.

We particularly like their new five-foot-wide, armless Avalon sofa ($1,099) that comes with a choice of retro fabrics (three of which are pictured).

But there are plenty of more traditional options, including some terrific bargains in their clearance column: a 79-inch sleeper sofa in sage for $999, and cushy seating such as the Kendall Chair for $599. You'll also find armoires, shelving, desks, beds, furniture for kids, and accessories.

Sons + Daughters, 35 Ave. A [2nd/3rd] 212.253.7797, the children's clothing and toy store, is having a sale while supplies last: clothing originally $35-$200 is now 30% off for European designers and 50% off other selected merchandise. M, T 12-7, We-Su 10-7.
