The Working Proof Flickr Pool Picks |
A really nice idea: The Working Proof, started by New York printmakers Anna Corpron and Sean Auyeung, sells prints at modest prices from talented artists. The difference here is that each artist chooses a charity for their print and 15% of each sale goes to that organization.
Amy Ruppel created This Land Is Your Land, pictured above, and chose American Forests, which works to protect and restore the country's trees. Its eco subject was created well before the BP spill, though the largest tree seems presciently rooted in the Gulf of Mexico. The print, 8"x10", was produced in a limited edition of 100. Each sells for $45.
Since their launch last fall, they've released 33 different prints. Here are a few more samples:

King of the Mountain by Lisa Golightly $35 Benefits Victory Junction

Gathering by Erik Otto $75 Benefits Architecture for Humanity

Optimist Club by Dan Funderburgh $40 Benefits Transportation Alternatives

Today on Wish You Were Here: Highway 18 Outdoor Theater Jefferson, WI: Cars, corn dogs, canoodling
