| THE MORNING LINE ‣ After today's edition, we're on a break until after the new year but you can always stay with us on Twitter and Facebook. Happy holidays!
architecture ‣ The Four Seasons restaurant, a modern classic since it opened in 1959, gets a gimlet-eyed joint-casing when the Historic Districts Council leads its next Secret Lives Tour on January 22, 4-5:30pm, inside the Philip Johnson space. It's $125, cocktail included… At the New-York Historical Society, the restaurant turns up in the just-opened Landmarks of New York exhibit, along with dozens of other significant buildings, spaces, and icons, from Charlie Parker's home to the Woolworth building.
music ‣ Singer-songwriter Lucy Kaplansky brings her graceful melodies, wise lyrics, and that voice, as caressing as any twang ever was, to City Winery on January 5, 8pm, $25-$35.
movie ‣ Amour, Michael Haneke's deeply moving film about an older couple and time's erosions, stars the two extraordinary actors Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva. Easily one of the best films of the year.
theater ‣ It's been such a wan fall for Broadway that we're putting our faith in the forthcoming revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella to set things right. The production has some talented people on the case: it's directed by Mark Brokaw, there's a new book by Douglas Carter Beane, new orchestrations by Danny Troob, and the cast includes Laura Osnes, Santino Fontana, Harriet Harris, and Victoria Clark as the fairy godmother, obviously.
