Eldar, the phenom already embraced by jazz enthusiasts, is at the Rubin tomorrow night, 7pm, $18. Man, this kid can play.


Performance artist Justin Bond (Kiki of the now disbanded psycholounge act Kiki and Herb), is at Joe's Pub on Saturday, 11:30pm, $20, where he'll perform with special guest star, classical composer Nico Muhly. Expect brilliance, plus insanity.


For a less off-the-rails experience, check out Yann Tiersen when he plays Highline Ballroom on 2/18 and 2/19. He's lent his skills to movie soundtracks, including Amélie, but the French musician and composer uses a variety of instruments (take that, Sufjan!) to create a range of sonic landscapes.




food… Top Chef's Dave Martin (Season One) gives an Old Man Winter workshop at The Culinary Loft on Monday, January 24th, 6:30-9pm, $85. The menu—mussels, hanger steak with parsnips, and warm butterscotch pudding—sounds delicious.
