event ‣ Shinsai: Theaters for Japan is the result of commissions from American and Japanese theater artists—plays and music performed to draw attention, on Sunday, March 11th, to the one-year anniversary of the earthquake and subsequent disasters that befell Japan. The works will be presented in two performances, 3pm and 8pm, tickets are $25 for general admission ($250 for reserved seating) and the event takes place at Cooper Union's Great Hall. Proceeds go to members of Japan's theater community affected by the earthquake.
 movies ‣ Jiro Dreams of Sushi is a documentary about Jiro Ono, considered by many the world's greatest sushi chef; his 10-seat spot in a Tokyo subway station has 3 Michelin stars. The film opens on Friday at Lincoln Plaza and IFC.
