books Sarah Burns, daughter of documentary-maker Ken Burns, has written The Central Park Five, a 'chronicle of a city wilding'—about the Central Park jogger and the five men convicted of the crime. The men served their full sentences before serial rapist Matias Reyes confessed, and DNA proved, to have committed the crime.

Genius of Place: The Life of Frederick Law Olmsted, by Justin Martin, chronicles the great man's life: creator of Central and Prospect Parks, an abolitionist and environmentalist, but a man beset by tragedies large and small. The book is out next Tuesday.
