movie Margarethe von Trotta has directed Hannah Arendt, a biopic starring Barbara Sukowa of the German-American political theorist known for, among other things, her reporting for the New Yorker on the Eichmann trial in 1961. Now playing at Film Forum.



indie pop Sweden's Azure Blue, The Hobbes Fanclub from the U.K. and The Ballet from NY are just a few of the fine indie bands playing NYC Popfest at various venues, today through June 2.

The LABA festival EAT is a four-course 'meal' of teachings from the Torah and Talmud—food as it relates to power, ritual, ethics and desire. It takes place on Saturday, June 1, 8:30pm and June 2, 3pm, at the 14th St. Y. Tickets are $25 in advance.

New York Electronic Art Festival starts June 1 and runs through July at various venues. Lots of very interesting-looking events.
