classical… Members of the Vienna Philharmonic join the InterSchool Orchestras of New York to give a concert at the bandshell in Central Park this Sunday, May 10th, 1:30pm. They'll be performing Peter & the Wolf, conducted by George Stelluto, with narration by Isaac Mizrahi. Free.


art… Opening tomorrow at Haunch of Venison, 1230 6th [48th/49th] 20th flr., much esteemed Italian artist Enrico Castellani will have an exhibition of his recent work, signature paintings in white or metallic silver. It's his first NYC solo show in over 40 years.



books… Hopefully it's safe to find amusement from pigs. Which brings us to NY author Joe Caldwell, whose first novel, The Pig Did It, earned a lot of fans for its tale of a lovelorn New Yorker in a small Irish village. The Pig Comes to Dinner, the second in a proposed trilogy, is out this month. Mr. Caldwell will be reading from it at Three Lives on May 20th.



talk… What is beauty? Two people who should have interesting answers: architect Renzo Piano and sculptor Mark di Suvero, who will talk about their work next Wednesday, 6:30pm, at the Morgan Library, for which Mr. Piano designed the recent renovation. $10
