art…We're top-heavy with art this week, which is never a bad thing. A few choices: Hugely appealing NYC landscapes in oil from Ellen Bradshaw at the Pleiades Gallery, 530 W. 25th [10th/11th] 646.230.0056. Now through December 16th.

Melodie Provenzano scrutinizes kitschy icons (i.e. ceramic poodles) and refashions them in a show of paintings and drawings starting on December 2nd, 5-8pm, at Private View Fine Art, 601 W. 26th [11th/12th] 14th Flr. 5-8pm.

On now through December 22nd, "Louis Stone: The Path to Abstraction, 1928-1945" at the Michael Rosenfeld Gallery, 24 W. 57th [5th/6th] 212.247.0082, features 30 oil paintings tracing Stone's evolution from traditional landscapes to avant-garde modernist works.

There's still time to catch the fascinating show "Wholesale: To the Trade Only 1985-1997" at Alexander Gray Associates, 526 W. 26th [10th/11th] 212.399.2636, an installation of fashion designer J. Morgan Puett's Soho store that closed in 1997 — but just about everything in it was preserved in beeswax.

indie rock… Thursday: Chicago's Chin Up Chin Up bring their catchy guitars and subtle synths to R&R (with Foreign Islands). Saturday: Get your fill of electro-pop glock-rock with +/- (Plus Minus) at Knitting Factory. Also this weekend… 12/1 & 12/2 Dinosaur Jr. And: 12/1 & 12/2 The Stills.

kids… We wrote about the Citigroup model trains last week and along those lines is the Holiday Train Garden that will open on Wednesday, December 6th, at 6pm. It will be located in the Manhattan Sailing Club's two-story floating clubhouse in Battery Park City's North Cove Marina. Admission is free for kids, $10 is requested for adults, proceeds going to Project City Kids.

service… You still have time to get those holiday cards printed: check out Greene Street Greetings, 646.290.5331, which uses 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper, eco-friendly inks, and has a good design vibe, too. Owner Evan Schoninger says they can turn around an order in 5-7 days.

out of town…Our friends at Travelzoo have scoped out an incredible deal: fly to Cologne, Germany on Continental for less than $275, all taxes included, for travel now through the middle of May.
