indie rock… Friday: Neon Indian's smooth electro-chill comes to Brooklyn Bowl. Sunday: Up-and-coming fuzz poppers Gross Relations play Mercury Lounge. Just Announced… 12/4: Jeff Tweedy (of Wilco). 4/21: Mogwai.

art… James Casebere has long created models of rooms, some based on places (Monticello, a Sienese palazzo), and then photographed the stripped-down, people-less spaces. This show's work, modeled on an area in Duchess County, though, is virtually all landscapes. Indoors or out, what emerges are evanescent dreamscapes of plaster, water, and light that appear to have been excavated from the subconscious. A new show of his work opens tomorrow at the Sean Kelly Gallery, 528 W. 29th [10th/11th] 212.2391181.

movies… As you may have noticed, MUG is a big fan of documentaries, so we're psyched about DOC NYC, a new festival running November 3rd-9th at IFC and NYU's Kimmel Center. There are over 40 films in the lineup, including Werner Herzog' new 3D film Cave of Forgotten Dreams, Errol Morris's Tabloid, and concert films from Bruce Springsteen and David Byrne.

urban planning… At The Museum of the City of New York on November 9th, 6:30pm, a consideration of The Taxi of Tomorrow with a panel of design and transportation experts. You'll get to see some of the designs under consideration by the city.
