book/talk Pulitzer Prize-winning author Mike Wallace follows up his epic history of New York from its founding to 1898, with the equally epic Greater Gotham: A History of New York City from 1898 to 1919. thru 2/8: a new year brings another new ear festival, presenting a week of sound art, experimental music, performances, and an installation at fridman gallery (soho). $15 (free friday and tuesday).


thru 2/28: city bakery (flatiron) once again sweetens up february with their 26th annual hot chocolate festival, which features a fanciful flavor each day this month. this week: espresso, bourbon, 'happy,' and super bowl-themed.



thru 2/28 (weekdays 8am-4pm + 5:30pm-11pm): have breakfast (almost) any time of day or night during clinton street baking co. + restaurant's annual pancake month, featuring a rotating menu of 14 varieties.
