photography Before this gets all Who's On First, Wyatt Gallery is not a gallery. He's a photographer. And his show at Foley Gallery (which is a gallery) makes the case that meditation is in the eye of the beholder. The artist sees those advertising spaces on subway walls—those accretions of paper scraps—as an invitation to mindfulness. Subtext II: Meditations is on view through June 25th.


Never before seen images by Larry Fink of a few days in the spring of 1966 show Warhol and his gang in their prime. They're in the new book Fink on Warhol: New York Photographs of the 1960s.




music An evening of 'feel-good, harmony-focused music' is promised for June 28 at Le Poisson Rouge when Elizabeth and the Catapult is joined by the Britpop Choir and the Brooklynite Choir. Tickets are $10.




crafts Classes, demonstrations and exhibitions will take place over two days as part of the Craft in Focus festival, June 3-4, at Industry City. Advance tickets are $15.




tv On Netflix, Joshua: Teenager vs. Superpower is the inspiring story of a young activist and the fight over Hong Kong's sovereignty.

out of town We don't need any excuses to visit Manitoga, Russel Wright's home, studio and 75-acre grounds. But if you do, a new pavilion will be installed for the season as of June 2, designed by PennDesign Master of Architecture students.

fri 8-11pm (+ sat 3-11pm): hoof it up with two days of beginners-friendly english country dancing and american contra dancing set to live music by gian robot dance. ps3 (west village), $12-18 general, $10-15 students.


sat 8pm doors: the annual rooftop films series returns with more than 45 indie film screenings and live music at 10 outdoor venues. tonight: the genius and the opera singer, with pre-show music by martina dasliva, post-screening q+a with filmmaker vanessa stockley, and and an after party with free drinks. new design high school (les), $15.


sun 12pm: broadway veteran joel grey and playbill editor-in-chief mark peikert have a brief chat introducing a 1970 taping of george m!, which includes the staples 'give my regards to broadway', 'you're a grand old flag', and 'yankee doodle dandy'. the 1959 television adaptation of meet me in st. louis follows at 2pm. the paley center for media (midtown west), free.


sun 12-5pm: no papers required (except cash, of course) for passport to taiwan, the 16th annual festival of taiwanese food, music, and culture taking over union square today. free admission.


sun 2-4pm: this is no tall tale—a corgi meetup is bringing adorable pups to hillside dog park (brooklyn heights).


sat 11:30am-6:45pm, sun 11:30am-5:45pm: the queens book festival returns for a second year, with a special children's + ya authors day on saturday and the main event on sunday. both days include exhibitors, readings, conversations and signings from over 100 authors. lic landing by coffeed (lic), free admission, tickets get preferred seating and a gift bag.


sat 12-10pm, sun 12-8pm, mon 12-8pm: danceafrica's annual outdoor bazaar returns to the streets surrounding the brooklyn academy of music (fort greene) with food, crafts, and fashion from more than 150 african, african-american, and caribbean vendors.


mon 8pm (tickets distribution starts at 6pm): the new york philharmonic performs mahler's symphony no. 4 for its 26th annual free memorial day concert at the cathedral church of st. john the divine (morningside heights).


thru sun: theater for the new city's 22nd annual lower east side festival of the arts brings three days of free theater, music, dance, cabaret, film, poetry, and more by dozens of performers to the east village. free admission.
