Native New Yorker Anu Bhagwati served in the Marine Corps from 1999-2004. Having benefited from yoga following her service, she became a certified instructor in 2008. That same year, she started Yoga for Vets NYC to help other veterans with injuries or trauma.
Classes are taught by veterans, they're free for vets and their family and no prior experience with yoga is needed. Open Yoga for Veterans takes place at Integral Yoga, 227 W. 13th [7th/8th] on Wednesdays, 6:45-8:15pm. There are additional classes (free for vets though not taught by vets or specifically designed for them) on Thursday nights: Integral Restorative Yoga, 6:45-8:15pm, and Integral Level I Yoga, 7:15-8:45pm.
