11 Board Games
Plus: Every Person in New York

Here's a roundup of board games for word mavens, strategists, and bluffers – some old, some newer – to liven up a game night. In no particular order:

Wits & Wagers is a trivia game, with betting on who might know a given answer best.

In Balderdash, you bluff your way through weird words, peculiar people, laughable laws…

You make up the second part to old sayings in Wise and Otherwise (There's an old Norwegian saying: One must chew according to…) and it's a lot more fun than it sounds.

Carcassonne is a tile-laying game in which you strategically develop the area around the city.

In Mad Gab, you need to be able to sound out, creatively, odd phrases, turning things like Sea Grit Dress Up Ease into 'secret recipes'.

Mental Floss is the fun trivia game from the website of the same name.

Q90 is an enjoyable twist on 20 questions.

In Catch Phrase!, you give clues to your team to guess the phrase – just don't get stuck with the player disk when the buzzer goes off.

Backseat Drawing is played with two teams, two people in each team collaborate on a drawing – and the person doing the drawing doesn't know what he's being asked to draw.

You have to get your teammates to say a particular word, without using certain other words to it, the ones that are Taboo.

In Buzzword, you have 45 seconds to solve 10 clues, all with a common word.
