Get your New York noir on in Mezzotint: From Dark to Light, taught by artist Frederick Mershimer (check out his wonderful work here) on three Sundays, 1:30-5:30pm, beginning January 31st at Manhattan Graphics Center, $250.

No sewing skill needed + four hours + $95 = Your own tote. Build a Bag Workshop at Flirt Brooklyn, lots of upcoming Saturdays.

DIY Jimi Hendrix, or as they're calling it, a Junk Guitar Workshop, is a two-hour class on January 16th, 4-6pm, taught by Ranjit Bhatnagar, that will get you a 'fun, twangy noisemaker.' $60

Baby needs a new pair of shoes, and by 'baby', we mean you. Beginner shoemaking is taught by Emily Putterman-Handler at the JCC, on Wednesdays, starting tomorrow or on Sundays beginning February 7th. Twelve sessions, $445 plus up to $200 for supplies.

Also at the JCC, Pearl and Bead Stringing: Beginner will teach you about pearl knotting, endless necklace, necklace with clasp, multiple strands, and all that good stuff. Starts February 16th, 6:30-9:30pm, eight sessions, $340.

Your family will be able to trace a future heirloom back to March 4th, 2010, the first of six sessions in Quilting for Beginners at the 92Y, $150.

A fine hand at Furniture Refinishing is always handy, and in the current economy, especially helpful. At 3rd Ward, a three-session primer is $225, starting February 9th.
