Every Thing Goes

This is a shopping item, so we're not going to talk about the commune on Staten Island.

OK, well, just this. There's a commune on Staten Island (they call it an "intentional community)". It's called Ganas, and the six members who started it in 1979 still live there, along with 84 others.

Back to shopping: Ganas members run three thrift and vintage stores called Every Thing Goes, one for clothing, one for furniture, one for everything else. Sometimes the stuff rocks, sometimes not so much. But the prices are always low—really low. Clothing is at 140 Bay 718.273.7139, furniture at 17 Brook 718. 273.0568, and collectibles at 123 Victory. They're in walking distance of the ferry, open Tuesdays through Saturdays, and the website has a detailed map of how to find them.
