Part 1

Opening October 12 at MoMA, a major survey of works by Walid Raad, the Lebanese-born, Rochester-based artist whose work considers inflection points of art, war and history in the Middle East.

The West End's Olivier Award-winning play King Charles III, about Prince Charles becoming King Charles, stars Tim Pigott-Smith. Preview start October 10, ahead of a November 1 opening.

A beauty: Brooklyn, the movie written by Nick Hornby and directed by John Crowley, based on the novel by Colm Tóibín. It stars Saoirse Ronan, giving a memorable performance as an Irish woman who moves to Brooklyn in the 1950s. Opens November 6.

The New-York Historical Society, starting October 9, looks at superheroes and how they have captured the imagination of generations of New Yorkers.
