Every Person in New York

Why leave your wedding in a Toyota when you could be in a 1929 Cadillac Eight Town Sedan? Or, make a splash when you arrive for opening night, stepping out of a peacock blue 1954 Kaiser Early Special. And there's nothing like a jaunt around town in a 1960 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II or a 1969 Checker cab.

Peter Yannello's company, FilmCars, 718.748.6707, started renting vintage cars for film shoots in 1983 and he's expanded over the years to special events and private functions. There are dozens of cars to choose from, so you could go back to a 1910 Ford Model T Delivery Wagon (fun, if not the smoothest ride of your life), a 1937 Studebaker Dictator Six Custom Rumble Seat Coupe, or a 1963 Lincoln Continental Convertible Sedan.

The Checker cabs have been especially popular lately. As Mr. Yannello says, "It's a chance to step back and look at what the city was like." Yes, they still have the bench seats and the lights all work.

Jason Polan started Every Person in New York in March of 2008. He plans on working on the project until it is finished. Look for Every Person in New York on Tuesdays in MUG and daily at Jason's site.
