Among the accomplishments of John Dingell, who died on Thursday at age 92, his part in the passage of many of the country's environmental laws, including the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act (though he did not support tougher environmental regulations affecting the auto industry). Katie Murtha, who served as chief of staff for the late congressman, wrote this remembrance.

The fight for clean air continues. This morning at 10am, the City Council considers shutting down NYC's polluting gas plants, which raise asthma rates in the low-income communities where they are located.
