Every Person in New York

This was Climate Week in NYC, if you hadn't noticed, given everything else that was going on around town.

There were champions: Addressing the U.N. General Assembly, Pope Francis said, "Any harm done to the environment, therefore, is harm done to humanity."

And there were villains: Can humanity forgive Volkswagen? This is such a despicable and systemic cheating scandal that it's hard to see what that company could do for redemption. We say, Auf Wiedersehen, Bug.

Around the city and around the world…

You'd never guess Mexico City from the photo above. At IFC starting October 2, This Changes Everything, a film inspired by Naomi Klein's book of the same name. It's no jeremiad; rather, an argument that fixing what's wrong with our economic system goes hand in hand with healing the environment.

From the global to street level: Northern Manhattan Climate Action, a thoughtful and interesting plan.

Blue York—protecting the waters surrounding the city.

Ten climate solutions with a big impact sounds like clickbait but it's from the Environmental Defense Fund and the priorities make a lot of sense.

Designing Climate Action, at the School of Visual Arts, is a forum for entrepreneurs and designers to collaborate toward solutions. It takes place tomorrow, September 30, 6:30pm at SVA.

Finally, if you want to keep track of green events in the city, the site you want is Echo Anchor.

Jason Polan started Every Person in New York in March of 2008. He plans on working on the project until it is finished. Look for Every Person in New York on Tuesdays in MUG and daily at Jason's site.
