Leon Dolice

Leon Dolice Born in Vienna in 1892, Leon Dolice came to New York in 1920 and spent the rest of his life creating etchings, linocuts, paintings and pastels of New York scenes. There are etchings of the city parks, vanishing street scenes, neighborhoods, and landmarks. Linocuts, with subjects such as the Little Church Around the Corner, Central Park, MacDougal Alley, are especially appealing. The work casts a romantic, if not sentimental light on New York, but we're unrepentant fans.

You can find out more about Mr. Dolice and Vintage New York here. A good source for Dolice reproductions ($20-$40) is at Art and Frame.
