Southpaw, 125 5th Ave. [St. John's Pl.] Bklyn 718.230.0236, is Park Slope's cool, relatively new music venue. Worth checking out not only for the space, but its rocking roster. Dub Is A Weapon plays December 20 at 9pm, $10.

Wow, those pipes sound better than ever. Ms. Lauper (pictured) has a new album called At Last, a collection of standards for which she clearly has an innate affinity. She'll be performing tomorrow night at the Beacon.
New York Metro Mass Choir
This NYC choir "celebrates the human spirit through the performing arts, bringing together people from all walks of life and religious perspectives. Seeking to provide a spiritual common ground, the Metro Mass Choir creates opportunities for various cultural and spiritual expressions of faith, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender or sexual orientation." They also do all kinds of community work, including building housing in Brooklyn, the Dear Santa campaign, and Habitat for Humanity. How can you not love an organization like that?
