Revenge of the Book Eaters

No question about what we're doing on Wednesday, August 23rd: we'll be at the Beacon on the UWS, watching Revenge of the Book Eaters, a benefit for the 826 Writing Centers. The evening has a theme of sorts: words or music — which is better?

Maybe we don't have your full attention yet. But wait till you check out this lineup!

An acoustic performance from Sufjan Stevens.

Jon Stewart (who will, with luck, do the Bush heh-heh-heh snicker at least once.)

Dave Eggers, who started the 826 centers and also wrote some book.

Sarah Vowell from NPR and author of Assassination Vacation.

Singer/songwriter John Roderick of the Long Winters.

John Hodgman, Daily Show contributor, author of The Areas of My Expertise, and PC avatar.

and David Byrne, with guitar.

There were still tickets as of 7am this morning, top price is $53.50, available here.
