The heartstoppingly beautiful Faroe Islands produced singer-songwriter TEITUR, who has in turn produced some intimate and gorgeous tunes on his debut album "Poetry and Airplanes." Slant Magazine wrote: "Emotionally engaging, ornately arranged and expertly sweetened with shades of optimism. Teitur's solo debut, 'Poetry and Airplanes,' plays like a sonic postcard from a nomadic artist." He'll be at the Bitter End, 147 Bleecker [Thompson/LaGuardia] 212.673.7030, 8pm tonight. Tickets are $10. Tomorrow night, he's at Joe's Pub, 7pm, $15.

Trashpop Norwegian band (or Thrashpop, as one of their songs has it) SURFEROSA, mixes David Bowie, the Sex Pistols and Abba, and their live shows are raucous fun. Catch them this Saturday, October 16, at Don Hill's, 511 Greenwich St. [Spring] 212.219.2850, 8pm, part of the CMJ Music Marathon.

As we've written before about SONDRE LERCHE (pronounced SON-der LER-ke), this Norwegian's alternately buoyant and melancholy melodies are clearly steeped in American popular music (influences, he says, run from Beck to Bacharach, and all the way back to Cole Porter). We've listened repeatedly to Mr. Lerche to see if we can figure out how he glides into and out of notes, but there's something elusive about it. You hear in his albums, and when you see him live, that he's got an idiosyncratic gift, even if it's ineffable. In short, he's a star. He's got two upcoming gigs: Bowery Ballroom at 7pm this Thursday, October 14th ($15), and at Southpaw, 125 5th [Sterling/St. John's] Bklyn 718.230.0236, next Tuesday, the 19th ($10 in advance).
Securely in the pantheon of great comedies, The Office makes a return with "The Office Special" on Thursday, October 21st at 9pm on BBC America. Watch it along with its creator and star, Ricky Gervais, at the U.S. premiere screening hosted by The Museum of TV and Radio, 25 W. 52nd [5th/6th], on Monday, October 18th, 6:30pm. Tickets are $15 available in the lobby or at 212.621.6600.
