Established in 1883, Fencers Club, 229 W. 28th [7th/8th] 5th flr. 212.807.6947, offers an adult group beginner package of three classes in foil, sabre, and epee for $150. Kids classes are offered, too.

Take a class at AB Pilates West, 33 Bleecker [Mott] 212.420.9111, or, for newcomers, they have a special this month of three private sessions for $240.

Rock Climbing
Training for all levels, including beginners, at the 46-foot wall at Chelsea Piers, 212.336.6083.

NY Tennis Club, 3081 Harding Ave. [Prentiss/Pennyfield] 718.239.7916, is the city's oldest tennis club, established in 1886. There are six Har-Tru courts, a clubhouse, and onsite parking (there's also daily express bus service from Manhattan). Introductory rate (for the year) is $450, $30-$60 for courts per hour.

Sure you can run without a class. But with a little help from New York Road Runners, you may be able to run farther and faster.

The Five Boro Bike Tour rolls on Sunday, May 2nd (individual slots are sold out but you can ride with a charity group) and the 6th annual Tour de Brooklyn happens on June 6th.
