The Best Worst Movie
the skint

It has plenty of competition, but Troll 2 just may be the best worst movie of all time.

The plot is that old chestnut about a family taking a vacation only to get attacked by vegetarian goblins. What did they expect would happen, spending their holiday in Nilbog? Couldn't any of them spell backwards?

Anyway, after a memorable corn-on-the-cob sex scene, everything gets sorted out, as these things tend to do, with the help of a bologna sandwich. And the moral is found in the movie's most famous line: "You can't piss on hospitality."

This hot mess of movie goodness was shot in 1989 by Italian filmmaker Claudio Fragrasso, who cast a group of Utah locals in a movie that, beyond all calculation of such things, has become a cult classic.

Out of a cinematic nomel, the movie's then-child star, Michael Paul Stephenson, has made edanomel by directing a documentary called The Best Worst Movie. It's been a hit at film festivals around the country. While it celebrates all of Troll 2's campy lines, the atrocious acting, the hilarious production values, the movie also has its genuinely poignant moments: not everyone does, or can, share in the ironic appreciation of the Troll 2 experience.

One Troll 2 fan in the documentary says, "Bad food is bad and bad books are bad but bad movies are not always bad." Deerga.
