THE MORNING LINE A letter from Ms. Davis, a teacher whose DonorsChoose project MUG readers funded a few months ago. Guaranteed to make you smile.

Much centenary commemoration this year—the opening of Grand Central, the Woolworth Building—to which we've added our own more idiosyncratic look at what was newsworthy in 1913.

The 75th anniversary of The Cloisters is coming up, and so a brief valentine today.

Funded by John D. Rockefeller, designed by Charles Collens (who was also the architect of Riverside Church), the medieval style of the Cloisters reflects its mission: to showcase the Metropolitan Museum's medieval art and architecture. Within, a collection manuscripts, tapestries, stained glass, and other works of art from the 9th to the 16th centuries.

Set in Fort Tryon Park, a visit to The Cloisters isn't complete without time spent in the beautiful gardens, which are filled with herbs and species of flowers and plants cultivated in the Middle Ages.

For its 75th anniversary, the Met has scheduled three celebratory exhibitions, the first of which opens May 15. Search for the Unicorn showcases the seven famous Unicorn Tapestries, extraordinary works with an air of mystery—their history and precise meanings probably forever unknown. In September, The Cloisters presents its first contemporary art exhibit ever: Janet Cardiff's The Forty Part Motet, her highly-regarded sound installation from 2001. In March of next year, six pieces of Canterbury Stained Glass from England's Canterbury Cathedral, the first time these pieces have traveled since they were created 1178-80.

Jason Polan started Every Person in New York in March of 2008. He plans on working on the project until it is finished. Look for Every Person in New York on Tuesdays in MUG and daily at Jason's site.
