Tibet in Song, playing at Cinema Village, is the deeply affecting story of Ngawang Choephel, who wrote and directed the movie, and his efforts to preserve Tibetan music. His arrest by the Chinese government was perhaps inevitable, given the current state of affairs. After being imprisoned for more than six years, Choephel was released, in part through international pressure. The film chronicles the events, reflecting Tibet's political repression and its indomitable spirit.
